New gear, new battles, new items.
By now, all of you Dark Souls fans will likely be deep into the new content of the Artorias of the Abyss DLC so we gathered the locations of some items, areas and battles you may have missed. Oolacile isn’t without its secrets so read up on them below. Also be warned, this guide will contain what some people consider to be SPOILERS (ie: names of enemies, places, items), you’ve been warned.
Gold Tracer and Dark Silver Tracer Weapons
After Defeating Artorias, exit the area and rest at a bonfire then return to the area where you fought Artorias. You will see a woman, Lord’s Blade Ciaran, kneeling in front of a gravestone. She will ask you to give her the Soul of Artorias and in exchange will give you the Gold Tracer sword and Dark Silver Tracer dagger. Alternatively, you can kill her and get both weapons along with the full set of Lord’s Blade armor.
Lord’s Blade Armor Set
This armor set includes the Porcelain Mask, Lord’s Blade Robe, Lord’s Blade Gloves and Lord’s Blade Waist Cloth. It can only be obtained by killing Lord’s Blade Ciaran as detailed above.
Chester’s Armor Set
Consisting of the Snickering Top Hat, Chester’s Long Coat, Chester’s Gloves and Chester’s Trousers, this set can be obtained by killing Marvellous Chester, in his human form, just outside of the room where you battle Artorias.
Sword of the Abyss (Greatsword)
Can be forged by combining the Soul of Artorias with any +10 Greatsword at the Giant Blacksmith.
Armor of Artorias Armor Set
This set is not actually found in the new area that is added with the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, but can be purchased from the merchant Dornhall of Zena anytime after defeating Artorias.
Cleansing Greatshield
See (Rescuing Great Greywolf Sif) below.
Defeating the Black Dragon Kalameet
You’ll first encounter Kalameet on your way through the Royal Wood, when he lands briefly on a bridge in front of you. If you make your way down to the basin he lives in, which can be accessed by heading left from the elevator that brings you to the fight with Artorias, Kalameet will fly in and kill you with his fire. To initiate a battle with him, follow the instructions below.
First, you’ll have to venture into Oolacile Township to find a Mimic Chest on top of a ruined tower. Defeat the mimic and you’ll receive the Crest Key, which can be used to unlock the tower door above the room where you fought Artorias (the stairs are directly opposite the Gazebo of Stoicism).
Next you’ll have to speak to Hawkeye Gough, the giant that is behind the door you opened with the Crest Key. Talk to him repeatedly and he’ll eventually ask you if you’re going to fight Kalameet, the Black Dragon, say yes to all of his questions and you’ll be shown a cut-scene where Hawkeye Gough shoots Kalameet with an arrow.
You can now return to the basin to kill Kalameet.
Rescuing Great Greywolf Sif
In the Chasm of the Abyss area, head down to the area where you can see a large number of Shades. On the narrow stone ledge, with the Shades on your right and a drop off on the left, go until you are able to turn right and down into the area with all of the enemies. Go left instead and a false floor will drop out from under you.
When you land, follow the path, while a cat keeps appearing and laughing at you. The last time he dissapears, strike the wall directly behind him (near the lift that will take you back to the Royal Wood) to reveal an Illusory Wall.
In this room you’ll see Sif surrounded by some Shades. Defeat them all and Sif will howl, then dissapear. This will now make him available to summon during the final boss fight of this area.
