Build, scavenge, survive.
Last month, during PAX Prime 2012, Undead Labs revealed a new trailer for their upcoming Open-World post-apocalyptic zombie survival game, State of Decay. I was aware of the game and familiar with its general idea, but it wasn’t until I saw this trailer that it got its hooks in me.
Set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade in early 2013, State of Decay is one of the most ambitious XBLA games ever, with a dynamic world that will evolve and change based on your decisions, even when you aren’t playing. You’ll have to build and maintain a base camp, scavenge the land for limited amounts of ammo and supplies and survive the dangers that lurk around the world outside of camp. Rescuing other survivors will allow them to come and live at your base, helping out when needed and being part of your community.
What really makes it stand out is the realistic nature of the game, with supplies in limited quantities, having to maintain a community that has medical supplies, food, water and a proper shelter, and then the task of staying alive, because if you get bitten you will turn into a Zombie or if you die, that character is dead. From what we know so far, if you die you will take over control of one of the other NPC’s in the world, who all have their back story to discover.
There is still plenty of time before State of Decay is released but it’s on our radar and we’re excited to see more as it develops.
Check out the trailer below.
