Assassin’s Creed 3 AnvilNext Engine By The Numbers

Posted by Scott Grant | 02 Aug 2012 |

Welcome to the Un-United States of America.

Assassin’s Creed 3 isn’t just another sequel, this new entry in the series also introduces us to the brand new, completely redesigned, AnvilNext game engine. Today, Ubisoft are dishing some of the details on AnvilNext and the numbers are almost as impressive as the visuals we’ve already seen.

Assassins Creed 3 AnvilNext Engine

The beautiful world of Colonial New England, and Assassin’s Creed 3, will feature a dynamic weather system that won’t just have a number of different types of weather, but they will differ across all four seasons.

When moving through the world our hero, Connor, will be able to move smoothly through natural environments due to having over 1000 animations available to him. These animations will allow Connor to move through trees with a realism you just wouldn’t get in the previous games.

Finally, the AnvilNext engine will be able to create huge, dynamic battle sequences that capture the warfare of the times due to being able to handle over 2000 non-player characters on the screen at one time. Assassin’s Creed games have always been able to have a lot going on at once, but this is crazy. You can check out the AnvilNext Engine video below and prepare to be blown away:
