It’s time that zombies were scary again.
Ubisoft have released some new footage, at San Diego Comic Con 2012, of their upcoming survival horror title for the Wii U, ZombiU. While we saw a bit of gameplay at E3 2012, a lot of people were saying that it looked too gimmicky in its use of the Wii U Gamepad. Not anymore.
The two gameplay videos below show us that ZombiU is scary, tense and serious. While it does make use of the Wii U gamepad, for mini-games and other peripheral functions, the core gameplay is first person, survival horror all the way. Ammo is scarce, the environments are dark and enemies can jump out at you from anywhere. Zombies are ubiquitous in gaming today but they’ve been mostly reduced to cannon fodder or caricatures, but ZombiU seems to be on the right track to bring them back to their horror roots.
