Phantasy Star Online 2 Western Release Announced

Posted by Scott Grant | 10 Jul 2012 |

Sega is translating their latest sequel.

Originally announced as a Japanese language only release, Sega have announced today that they are bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 to western audiences. There is no solid date yet, but sometime in 2013, you’ll be able to play Phantasy Star Online 2 in english.

Phantasy Star Online 2

The sequel to Sega’s long running MMO, Phantasy Star Online, PSO 2 will be free to play on the PC, and eventually the PS Vita, and won’t be an MMO. Well not exactly. PSO 2 will still have the same Action RPG feel, with updated combat, as the previous games but instead of being an MMO it will play much like Diablo 3 does online. You’ll be able to play solo or quest with friends to complete a number of different mission types.

If you really can’t wait, it is possible to play the Japanese version right now as long as you don’t mind stumbling through some Japanese menus. Check out the English announcement trailer below:
