Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer DLC Review

Posted by Scott Grant | 18 Jul 2012 |

Welcome to Erf.

Bioware is bringing players the third, free, Multiplayer DLC pack for Mass Effect 3 and this time they’re taking you home. That’s right, as you may have guessed, the Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer DLC pack features three new maps, all located on Earth. It’s not all about the maps though, you’ll also get access to a number of new human, N7 special forces character class variants and a ton of new gear. Let’s have a look at Earth.

Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer DLC

Get off my planet.

What You Get

The first stop on your trip around the globe is Firebase Rio, located on, yet another, hydro electric damn just outside the city. Taking place at dusk, you can see the city lit up in the background as Reaper ordnance rains down on it. The map itself is tight with multiple levels and a ton of small pieces of cover that make it a challenge to figure out just where you’re getting shot from.

Firebase Vancouver was a little disappointing as it was just a small section of a blown out office building in the middle of the city. Not much can bee seen around you but other skyscrapers and the interior doesn’t offer much in the way of variety, just a few air ducts to take cover behind. Firebase London, on the other hand, transports you back to the end of the single player campaign. This map takes place in an all new section of the depressingly devastated, downtown London streets and really makes you feel like you’re taking part in the final battle. This is also the larger of the three maps, offering a number of places to hole up and defend yourself.

Mass Effect 3 Earth DLC

Cheerio!

In addition to the maps you’ll be able to unlock 3 new weapons: Piranha assault shotgun, Acolyte pistol, and Typhoon assault rifle and Six new human N7  character classes: Destroyer Soldier, Paladin Sentinel, Demolisher Engineer, Slayer Vanguard, Shadow Infiltrator, and Fury Adept. Finally, with the Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer DLC you’ll have access to a new difficulty level; Platinum. Do you have any maxed out characters that you’re holding onto? I hope so, because Platinum difficulty is serious business.

Verdict

The Mass Effect 3 Earth Multiplayer DLC pack is a must download for anyone still playing, or looking to get back into, Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer mode. It won’t cost you anything, for starters, but more importantly it packs a load of cool new content onto an already stacked co-op offering. Welcome home.
