Say goodbye to easy one-timers.
The latest video for NHL 13 gives us a behind the scenes look at some of the upgrades that goalies have received in this year’s edition of EA Sports Hockey franchise.
Software Engineer at EA Sports, James Banting, walks us through some of the goalie changes, such as how using Hockey IQ, the new AI system, goalies can now track all of the players on ice instead of just the player with the puck, allowing them to better anticipate what they are going to do. With over 1000 goalie animations in the game, Banting talks about how their limbs are now dynamic and can change in the middle of a save animation instead of having to finish that animation and then move in a new direction.
One of things I really like about this video is how the in-game footage includes the goalie’s line of sight which really helps show the Hockey IQ system at work. Check it out below.
