Modern Warfare 3 June DLC Review

The creativity is starting to shine.

June marks the sixth month in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 content season for those who purchased a Premium Elite membership, and it includes one new Spec-Ops mission called Arctic Recon and three new multiplayer Face Off Maps as well.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 June DLC Review.

What You Get

Starting with Arctic Recon, this mission takes place in Siberia where you have to work your way across a Russian Warship and plant airstrike beacons in four different locations. The catch is that you can’t find the locations of where to plant the beacons on your own, so you have the help of a Recon Drone which can spot and tag the locations for you. It also comes equipped with a mini-gun to help eliminate any enemies that may pop up while you are controlling it, which is a nice treat. Arctic Recon is a pretty fun mission, that’s a good length and jam-packed full of enemies, so it’s a nice challenge on Veteran difficulty.

The three new Face Off maps are Vortex, U-Turn and Intersection. U-Turn takes place on a small stretch of highway in the Middle East that has been devastated by the war, with plenty of vehicles to hide behind for some great close quarters action. Intersection, the largest of the three maps, takes place in a small section of war-torn Brooklyn, New York that features quite a few shops and even apartment buildings you can enter. A map designed for all play styles, Intersection quickly became my new favorite Face Off map.

The last map, Vortex, takes place in a small American town, while a Tornado swirls around it. You can feel the effects of the Tornado as you see dead farm animals, shutters blowing back and forth, knocked down trees and debris blowing in the wind. It may be an odd setting for a multiplayer map, but it’s also one of the more interesting, and I’ll give them points for at least getting creative with Vortex.

I may not care for Face Off as much as the normal size playlists, but I will say it has some pretty cool maps.

Verdict

If you bought a Premium Elite membership then this is an easy one, because this DLC is free for you, so why wouldn’t you get it? For those who don’t have premium, you’ll have to wait for Content Collection # 3 to come out to get your hands on this new content.
