Hero Academy Coming To Steam

But not for free.

Robot Entertainment announced today that they will be bringing their popular iOS game, Hero Academy, to PC’s this Summer via Steam.

On top of announcing that the turn-based strategy game is coming to PC on August 8th, Robot Entertainment also announced that Hero Academy would feature cross-platform play between iOS devices and PC. This also means that any in-game items that you buy on either PC or iOS will be transferable to the other, which is a pretty neat feature.

The PC version will ship with two teams, the Council and a team made up of characters, upgrades and abilities from Valve’s Team Fortress 2, which can only be unlocked on Steam but are then playable on the iOS version too. As well, if you buy an additional team in the PC version, you will unlock new aesthetic items to be used in Team Fortress 2.

The only problem I have with any of this is that Hero Academy on iOS is free to download, and then you buy in-game items if you want them, but on PC it’s going to cost real money (price not yet confirmed) to just buy the game initially and then purchase in-game items as well. Why not make it a Free-To-Play game on Steam, which it already has plenty of, with the same in-game items for purchase? I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the pricing is like when they release more information.

Until then, check out the trailer for Hero Academy below.
