Modern Warfare 3 Content Season Details

It really does pay to be premium.

Breaking from the tradition of releasing new map packs every few months, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 aims to do things differently with a new Content Season system.

The Content Season is 9 months long, starting this month, and will see new DLC released every month. Whether its new maps, new Spec Ops missions, or even new campaign content, gamers can expect to see something new each month. Call of Duty Elite Premium members are definitely getting the full treatment as they will receive all of this content included in their $50 membership, and will receive it first. Non-Premium users can purchase what are called “Content Collections” at later dates, with the first date set for March for Xbox users, but no prices have been confirmed yet. They also did not confirm when PS3 or PC gamers will receive the premium content, or the Content Collections.

The first piece of content we will see is a map pack, with only 2 maps, on January 24th. The two maps are called Liberation and Piazza. Liberation is set in Central Park in NYC and is said to have plenty of sniper lines to watch out for. Piazza is set in a seaside village in Italy where close combat players will thrive.

You can check out the video below to see the developers discuss the Content Season and see the first two maps in action, and let us know the comments how you feel about this Content Season system.
