Best Buy may have let the cat out of the bag.
Confirmed! Well, sort of. Blizzard’s long, long, awaited sequel, Diablo 3 may have a release date of February 1st. Best Buy’s website is listing this date and Joystiq are reporting that a user has sent them a photo of an in-store display detailing the same info. Photographic evidence follows:
In the same article, Joystiq also confirm that UK retailers are listing the release date as February 3rd, which would fall in line with standard UK operating procedure of Friday releases. What do you think? Is this legit? The in store display seems to confirm it but has someone simply jumped the gun? More to come.
UPDATE: Blizzard community manager Micah “Bashiok” Whipple has tweeted that “We can’t really keep every individual retail shop from making up a date.” and “Retailers will not know a date until its officially announced through a press release.” Though we still have no official denial from Blizzard. Joystiq are also reporting, through the link below, that the Best Buy in question has taken down the display, and that it was produced in-house, not sent from Blizzard.
