Tired of killing zombies yet?
Konami released new DLC for Zombie Apocalypse Never Die Alone this week and for 400 MS Points you will get a new level in the campaign, and a new survival mode. Hopefully you were a big fan of the main game, as this DLC isn’t going to win you over otherwise.
Single Player
The Pure Pwnage DLC attempts to continue the story at the end of the game, while also adding a bit of back story before the events of the main game, and neither of them are really that interesting. Since the story in the game isn’t really important anyway, it’s not really worth either of our time to talk about it anymore.
The DLC adds two new modes; Pure Pwnage and Prequel of the Dead. Starting with Prequel of the Dead, which is a new level on a new map, starring the characters of the original Zombie Apocalypse game, attempts to shed some light on events before the main game. The problem is that they have the same weapons, special items and pwnage abilities as the other characters, so the only thing new they bring to the game is aesthetic value, which really who cares at this point as you aren’t just standing around staring at them. It would have been great to bring back the original characters in a classic mode from the original game. Now that would have been something worth buying. The map is larger than some of the other maps, with 2 areas separated by a small bridge. You have a laboratory and then a big parking lot type area filled with army vehicles. It’s a shame you couldn’t get in one and man the turret, that would have been cool. The mode is fairly short and adds nothing to your single player game so it’s a one time thing and you’re done. The least they could have done was add the money you earned to your single player game but sadly after I was done my money was the same as it was before.
Pure Pwnage is an endless wave of Zombies on the same map as Prequel of the Dead, and stars Jeremy and his friend Doug who he has found since the end of the main game. The design for this is weird since it’s only two players and the rest of the game is 4 players, so that part alone makes it less attractive if you have a few friends that you play this with regularly. The goal is just to see how long you can last against wave after wave of Zombies, with health and weapon pick ups around the map. You can also pick up money which is weird since it doesn’t transfer over to the main game here either, so what’s the point?

Between the two modes, I’m sure those who really like the game will enjoy it, but just don’t expect it to last very long, even if the Pure Pwnage is endless. It’s not likely you will want to play it for longer than an hour or two.
Multiplayer
Just like with the main game you can play both Pure Pwnage (2 player only) and Prequel of the Dead (4 players) with your friends cooperatively online. It’s the best way to play the game and the same goes for the DLC.
Achievements
The Pure Pwnage DLC adds in three new achievements for a total of 50G. You’ll earn them for completing the Prequel of the Dead level, surviving for 10 minutes in Pure Pwnage and then for killing 10,000 zombies in Pure Pwnage. I don’t know if I can handle listening to Doug and Jeremy for 10 minutes so that one may require some use of the mute button to complete.
Closing Comments
The Pure Pwnage DLC is fairly small for the 400 MS Point price tag, and unless you loved the main game of Zombie Apocalypse Never Die Alone, it doesn’t offer enough new content to make you like it now.
Final Score: 6/10
