All sorts of fun for $14.99 or less.
If you ask us, 2011 will go down in history as the year the Xbox Live Arcade found its stride. What used to be filled, mostly, with puzzle games, card games, and old coin arcade classics is now filled with a load of fantastic games. Games representing a number of different genres.
The best part? Every game has a demo and they’re all available for under $15 each. How could you go wrong? Well, you couldn’t but you could be a little more right with this year’s winner.
Dungeon Defenders
Developer/Publisher: Trendy Entertainment/Reverb Publishing
Release Date: October 20th, 2011
Our Review: 9/10
Part RPG, part Tower Defense, part hack-and-slash, Trendy Entertainment gave us a little bit of everything. From the moment we started this game we were hooked. The first hour you’ll spend thinking how fun this game is, the next 40 hours will have you marvelling at how deep the levelling and upgrade system is. Not to mention just how much there is to this game. With some of the most addictive four player co-op in the business, Dungeon Defenders was a no brainer for this award.
When you grab this one, you’ll have a really hard time believing you only paid $14.99 for it. Dungeon Defenders is one of the best games of 2011, downloadable or not.
Runner-Up
Bastion – Come for the art, stay for the story. Bastion is an Action RPG with a fantastic visual style and a great story that is dynamically narrated by a dude who could give Morgan Freeman a run for his money. Fun to play, and with a ton of replay value, Bastion is a must have for your XBLA collection.
