Driving is fun again.
When Saints Row The Third comes out on Nov 15th, gamers will finally be able to see the love that has gone into making the third entry in the series, the best one yet. Volition has listened to the complaints of the first 2 games and really worked hard to make this a fans game.
One of the complaints people had with Saints Row 2 was the driving. It wasn’t the smoothest ride on the market, but it wasn’t completely terrible either. Regardless if you loved it, or hated it, Volition has gone back to the drawing board and revamped the driving.
One of the ways they have improved the driving is by adding in Drifting, and oddly enough it doesn’t use the hand brake to do it (like many other games). Basically when going around a turn you can press the drift button and drift around corners like a pro. Since it’s not using the hand brake, you won’t slow down too quickly, allowing you to keep your speed while you drift. They have also placed more value on the weight of the cars to give you more force, and more power when you plow into other cars. It may not be very realistic, but this is Saints Row we are talking about. The damage cars can take has also been increased to really show you the destruction you cause, with flat tires down the rims, to being flattened like a pancake by tanks or other heavy vehicles.
They have also tweaked the Aircrafts, and from what we have seen so far, they are definitely easier to fly this time. By adding in a few new aircraft types and reworking how they operate, players will now be able to fly, land and wreak havoc from above, much easier this time around.
To see a quick glimpse at some of the new vehicle improvements in Saints Row The Third, the developers have released the below trailer. Check it out and mark your calendar for Nov 15th, see you in Steelport!
